More "Bella" stories
Shortly after we were
married, the neighbors, McQuitys, had come up with
a horse and buggy and when they left Mrs. McQuity
said, "Good bye, Mrs. Grant." Bella said, "Don’t
call her that, that was my mother’s name." But the
neighbor said, "Well she got married and was good
enough to take that name, so it’s good enough to
call her that."
One time during the
war, we had to go to the school house and Bella was
asked where her mother was born. She said, "the
United States," but when asked where her father was
born she said, "I don’t know." When Bob was asked,
he said, "Germany," loud enough for all to hear. |
