| Mom passed
away on Jan 15th, 2006. We had a 90th Birthday Party for her
in May 2005, and as usual She enjoyed herself immensely, -after all it
was a party! Mom had all the preparations for her service arranged. She selected her pall bearers (oldest male from each of her seven families or a substitute if necessary). She wanted the same Hymns the we sang for the service for her late husband Bob, who passed away April 12, 1958. As well, she requested the readings that were given by Lorraine and Malinda. All are included in the following service. Anna Lydia Grant May 12, 1915 - Jan 15, 2006
The oldest of 11 children, Annie was born in Pembroke to Charles and Amanda Hein. They moved to the Hein farm near Eganville when she was one year old. She attended school in Augsburg until grade 8. She spoke German at home so when she started school, one of the other students had to tell her what the teacher said. She learned English and then taught her brothers and sisters to speak it as well. She quit school after grade 8 to work on the farm. "I used to stand at the window and watch the other kids going to school and cry because I wanted to go to school to become a nurse." She is pre-deceased by brothers and sister; Garnet, Ernest, Viola, Carl, Arthur, and Willard, and is sadly missed by brothers, Basil (Esther), Eganville; Elson (Evelyn), Wetaskiwin, Alberta; Earl (Marlene), Eganville and sister, Arline of Azilda. She married Robert Grant on July 17, 1935, and moved to the Grant farm on the River Road, where they raised cattle, pigs, poultry, and seven kids! Bob passed away April 12, 1958, and she stayed on the farm until 1966. She moved into Eganville for a year, then to Renfrew for few years, then to the Barr Line, and finally back to Eganville, where she lived for 22 years. She moved to Arnprior in 2002. She is pre-deceased by husband Bob in 1958 and son Keith (Ruth), who passed away in 2004, and is sadly missed by Wilmer (Annetta), Eganville; Lois (Henry Rosien), Braeside; Bob (Carolyn), Perth Road Village; Lorraine (Deli Cluff), Braeside; Don (Ivy), Smiths Falls; and Ken (Anne), Renfrew, as well as 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She loved to knit, do jig-saw puzzles, play cards and party, but her biggest passion was her family. Her greatest legacies, that she passed down to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were her strength of character, her honesty, and her love of life. She will be fondly remembered.

My Mother's Garden
A garden of the heart She planted all the good things That gave my life its start.
She turned me to the sunshine And encouraged me to dream Fostering and nurturing The seeds of self-esteem.
She protected me enough, But not too much, she new I'd need To stand up strong and tough.
Her constant, good example Always taught me right from wrong, Markers for my pathway That will last a lifetime long.
I am her legacy. And I hope today she feels the love Reflected back from me.
Following the service The Grant family invites everyone downstairs for a time of fellowship and refreshment.
